INTRO TO EMBROIDERY: LETTERING WORKSHOP 

Class Date: Sunday, October 6th

Class Time: 12pm–3pm

This beginner-intermediate level workshop will focus on the basics of hand embroidering line work - focusing on lettering.

We’ll start with how to pick out the right materials for your project, and walk through prepping your embroidery hoop. You’ll learn how to do the 2 basic stitches that will enable you to do just about any fine line lettering and line work, best practices for creating smooth lettering, and lots of tips and tricks acquired over years of trial and error that will help keep the entire stitching process low stress and enjoyable!

During the last portion of the class, you'll have an opportunity to create your own keepsake hand embroidered phrase. Templates will be provided, and you’ll have the opportunity to choose between "howdy from austin" and "stationery with an "e"'

You'll leave this workshop with your finished project, and all the things you’ll need to continue practicing your new skills! After just 3 jam packed hours, you’ll leave the workshop with years of embroidery knowledge!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS: ASHLEY VACEK

Ashley is an Austin local, hand embroidery artist, and owner of Little Light Embroidery. Ashley has been hand embroidering since 2019, focused primarily on lettering and detailed linework. Little Light Embroidery came to be because of, and is inspired by, her daily life, favorite things (books, music, tv/movies), self care, queer community, and being her most authentic self. She is proud to be an earth conscious/low waste business, as well as someone who happily breaks embroidery “rules.” She is very excited to share her art and experience with you through this workshop!

Inclement weather: Updates and policies will be emailed the week of the workshop date with any current or relevant pertinent information.

Cancellations: We do not allow cancellations as we have committed to compensating our instructor for their time, supplies and talent. However, if you are unable to attend the workshop, let us know within 48 hours and you can either send someone else in your place or pick up any personal workshop materials the week following the class.

Dietary restrictions: We will be providing a light meal for all of our workshop attendees. At this time we are not able to cater to every dietary restriction but will have a vegetarian option available. (please make a selection at check out, once your selection has been made we are unable to modify.)

Age requirements: The Paper + Craft Pantry workshops are created for adults and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 years old. We are unable to seat anyone under age without a ticketed parent or legal guardian who is also attending this class.
