INTRO TO LEATHER BOOK BINDING WORKSHOP

Class Date: Saturday, November 6th

Class Time: 4pm - 7pm

Learn the magical and practical art of bookbinding with this unique workshop! Chelsea, maker and artist behind Sketchy Notions will be coming all the way from California to lead this incredible workshop!

You will learn the history of book binding as well as hands-on instruction as you stitch a genuine leather sketchbook cover. You will also learn how to bind your paper to create inserts for your book cover so you can continue to use your beautiful leather cover over and over again. 

You will also have the opportunity to bind a stock covered book to explore binding on a different material! 

You will leave the workshop you a handmade, one-of-a-kind notebook (or two) and all your bookbinding tools to continue crafting at home!

Each workshop ticket includes:

  • 3 hours of hands on instruction from two talented artists and small business owners
  • Genuine leather piece
  • 3 spools of waxed thread 
  • Binding needles
  • Travel scissors
  • 2 bone folders
  • 2 binder clips
  • Awl
  • Paper
  • Individual meal: catered light dinner from a local restaurant

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: CHELSEA WARD

Chelsea is a cat and plant lady with a love of watercolors, lettering and travel. When she's not painting and lettering for her stationery line, she's planning for her next art retreat in Italy. Chelsea loves to share her tips and tricks with others to help people explore the art of book binding!

Covid-19: Updates and policies will be emailed the week of the workshop date with any current pertinent information.

In the event we are unable to meet in person, we will have all materials and supplies for ticketed students to pick up from our studio so you can tune in to a live stream at the same time as the original scheduled class. More information will be communicated if this is deemed necessary.

Cancellations: We do not allow cancellations as we have committed to compensating our instructor for their time, supplies and talent. However, if you are unable to attend the workshop, let us know within 48 hours and you can either send someone else in your place or have this workshop's materials shipped to you.

Dietary restrictions: We will be providing a light meal for all of our workshop attendees. At this time we are not able to cater to every dietary restriction but will have a vegetarian option available. (please make a selection at check out, once your selection has been made we are unable to modify.)

Age requirements: The Paper + Craft Pantry workshops are created for adults and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 years old. We are unable to seat anyone under age without a ticketed parent or legal guardian who is also attending this class.
