Workshop FAQ | The Paper + Craft Pantry

Where do your workshops and classes take place?

All our in-person workshops and classes take place in The Paper + Craft Pantry's brand new, natural light-filled workshop studio!

Our new shop + studio is located at 1023 Springdale Road in Building 6A.

Where can I park?

There is free parking in the parking lot throughout the development. We encourage you to arrive a few minutes before the workshop start time to park and get settled. Don't forget to remove valuables and personal belongings and always lock your car doors :)

What kind of experience is required for your workshops?

All of our workshops are open level classes that are perfect for beginners as well as for someone more seasoned in the class content. We will indicate if a workshop requires previous experience.

What's the minimum age required to attend?

Our workshops are designed for adults only and are best suited for ages 18 years and up. We do require that someone over the age of 18 participates/accompanies the minor in the class, as a registered and ticketed participant.

If you are unsure if a class is right for you, please email us before purchasing your ticket and we'll be happy to help you: hello@thepapercraftpantry.com

What can I expect the day of the workshop?

Our studio doors open 15 minutes before the class start time. We encourage students to come early so you'll have time to sign in, get settled and browse our retail shop before we begin. All materials you'll need for the workshop will be provided (unless specifically stated in the workshop listing), so all you have to do is come ready to learn and have fun!

**We are also providing a light meal for all of our attendees. At this time we are not able to cater to every dietary restriction but will have a vegetarian option.

We have made the decision to keep our class sizes small to ensure every participant and student gets one-on-one instruction. On average, we typically seat no more than 8-10 students for each class.

*Note that if you are more than 20 minutes late from the class start time, we will be unable to seat you as the class would have progressed and it will be unlikely you'd be able to catch up to speed with the instruction. This is to honor the integrity of the experience for the entire class as well as for respect of the instructor. If you come in late, you may have missed a bulk of instruction which may make you have a less than ideal experience with us. We want everyone to have an amazing time at our workshops so please be on time!

I’m unsure of the workshop cost, can you tell me more about the fees?

The goal of our workshops is not only for you to learn something new but a place for you to build relationships with not only the instructor but the other attending students.

All our workshops are all inclusive!  That means you not only get personal and professional instruction from our top notch instructors (all of whom are small business owners), you also get quality materials plus a light meal from a local restaurant in town.

The cost of the workshop also takes into account the time and effort (years of experience, potential travel time etc.) the instructor and our studio coordinator has put in prior to each workshop for each student to prepare for an incredible class! Our instructor's skills and knowledge have taken years to hone and each workshop takes hours to prepare!

Is your workshop space accessible?

We are located in an accessible development with designated parking, ramps, wide 36" doorways and ample room around our workshop table. If you have any specific questions or needs, we are happy to assist and chat with you to make sure you have the very best experience. Email us hello@thepapercraftpantry.com so we can help.

Can my (friend, significant other, child, dog) who isn't taking the class accompany me to the workshop?

Each ticket counts as one single seat to our class!

For the best experience and to uphold integrity for all our paying students, we are unable to seat additional folks (or pets- unless they are service animals) who don't have a paid ticket.

What happens if a workshop is cancelled?

Although rare, a workshop may be cancelled or rescheduled if it doesn't meet the minimum registration or if there is an instructor emergency. In this event, you will be contacted as soon as this decision has been made and we will refund 100% of all paid tickets. We will also notify you as soon as we get it rescheduled.

*Covid-19 Clause: In the event it is deemed as unsafe and not responsible to gather in person based on the CDC + Austin Public Health recommendation, your in-person workshop ticket will become a live, virtual class session (when possible) during the stated class time in the listing for all students. All your materials will be available for pick up prior to the workshop as well as a drink + snack package. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility! If this is the case, you will receive an email with more information.

Something’s come up, I can’t make it to the workshop!

We have updated our workshop cancellation policy to provide a couple of flexible solutions. We would like to encourage ticketed students to refrain from attending if they are unwell for any reason to keep our team, instructors and fellow students safe and well.

A lot of effort goes into each workshop (by us + the instructor), the instructor purchases supplies and prepares for the number of tickets sold.

Ticket transfers to a future class or credit will not be an option as we do not know when we might host this class again and have already allocated our budget in preparation for each ticketed student prior to the workshop.

If you are unable to make it to the workshop, let us know at least 48 hours in advance and you may choose from the following two options:

A. Have someone else attend in your place. *We are not responsible for the reimbursement of your workshop fee.

B. Have a complete workshop kit set aside and you can pick them up the following week  (all materials and any instructional handouts - dependent on class)

I want to take this workshop but I can't make it on this date/time! Will you host it again?

Our workshop calendar rotates quarterly, bi-annually and yearly. We do not know for certain when we will or if we will host the class again.

You can also join our newsletter list to find out about future workshops here.

AH! A workshop I want to take is sold out! What can I do?

Unfortunately, once a class is sold out, it does mean that it's at maximum seating capacity and we are unable to accommodate additional students.

Our goal is to be able to offer a workshop kit version of every in-person workshop we host. So if you missed out on an in-person ticket, you can still learn through our all inclusive workshop kits.

Can I host a private workshop in your studio?

Absolutely! We love hosting private workshops and parties in our studio, and even travel to host remote workshops for larger groups! We've hosted team building happy hours, birthday parties, bridal showers, just to name a few. We've held workshops for intimate groups up to 8, and up to 100 offsite! Please fill out the Private Workshop Application here

Note that our workshops are catered to adults 18years+

I am an artist/maker/small business owner, I would like to collaborate and teach in your studio!
