INTRO TO CROCHET: FRUIT COASTERS WORKSHOP

Class Time: 12pm–3pm

Welcome to our Intro to Crochet Workshop! This beginner-friendly session will guide you in making adorable fruit coasters that add a splash of color to your home or serve as perfect gifts for friends and family.

In this workshop, we’ll cover the basics, including how to hold a hook and yarn, along with essential crochet stitches. You'll be guided through each step as we create vibrant coasters shaped like your favorite fruits—think cheerful oranges, juicy grapefruits, and zesty lemons!

No prior experience is necessary, so whether you’re picking up a hook for the first time or refreshing your skills, you’re in the right place. All materials will be provided, and you'll get to take everything home, allowing you to continue practicing and creating!

* This class is designed with right-handed crafters in mind, but don’t worry—left-handed participants are more than welcome! We’ll work together to ensure everyone can follow along, regardless of hand preference.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: CARME PEÑA

Carme is the maker behind Karmigurumi. She began knitting and crocheting as a hobby in 2021, initially making hats, wearables, and home decor. However, she soon discovered her true passion for creating amigurumi. After making them for herself and her nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers began requesting custom pieces as gifts. In April 2023, Carme launched Karmigurumi as a business and has enjoyed connecting with fellow crocheters, creatives, and small business owners in Austin. Outside of her craft, she loves reading, being a dog mom to her five pups; and exploring new restaurants or catching comedy shows with her husband.

Cancellations: We do not allow cancellations as we have committed to compensating our instructor for their time, supplies and talent. However, if you are unable to attend the workshop, let us know within 48 hours and you can either send someone else in your place or be able to pick up a completed arrangement (done by the instructor) the following week after the class.

Dietary restrictions: We will be providing a light meal for all of our workshop attendees. At this time we are not able to cater to every dietary restriction but will have a vegetarian option available. (please make a selection at check out, once your selection has been made we are unable to modify.)

Age requirements: The Paper + Craft Pantry workshops are created for adults and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 years old. We are unable to seat anyone under age without a ticketed parent or legal guardian who is also attending this class.
