STATIONERY SHELFIE: INTRO TO GLASS FUSING WORKSHOP

Class Date: Saturday, August 8th

Class Time: 12pm–3pm

A permanent place for all your favorite things! In this workshop, you'll learn how to safely cut and assemble sheet glass into a personalized "shelfie" 5"x6" design with a template as your guide. You'll use different, colorful pieces of smaller glass to recreate your favorite objects, tools, notebooks, novels, etc. found on your shelf or desk. Celebrate and commemorate the stationery and paper lover in you! 

All materials included, no experience needed!

Each workshop ticket includes:

  • 3 hours of hands-on personalized instruction from a talented small business owner and artist

  • Use of PPE (safety glasses and gloves)

  • Choice of shelfie template (just a guide, you'll be able to recreate your own)

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: RISA RECIO

Risa is a community-taught glass artist and instructor based in Austin, by way of Chicago, by way of Manila, Philippines. Since accidentally starting her glassware brand Tak Tak in 2018, her goal has been to share the magic of glass to people everywhere. She is inspired by unexpected colorways, bold patterns, and the unfettered joy we find in inanimate objects. She is currently working on building her own glassblowing studio, Studio Tak Tak. For now, Studio Tak Tak exists as a mobile classroom bringing meaningful, hand-on glass workshops to community centered spaces around Austin and beyond.

Disclaimer + Recommendation: 

Cancellations: We do not allow cancellations as we have committed to compensating our instructor for their time, supplies and talent. However, if you are unable to attend the workshop, let us know within 48 hours and you can either send someone else in your place or be able to pick up a completed glass lantern (done by the instructor) in 3–4 weeks.

Dietary restrictions: We will be providing a light snack for all of our workshop attendees. At this time we are not able to cater to every dietary restriction but will have a vegetarian option available. Please make a selection at check out, once your selection has been made we are unable to modify. Students are always welcome to bring their own additional snack for the workshop.

Age requirements: The Paper + Craft Pantry workshops are created for adults and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 years old. We are unable to seat anyone under age without a ticketed parent or legal guardian who is also attending this class.
