LETTERMAKER STENCIL x MONOGRAM WORKSHOP

Class Date: Sunday, December 6th

Class Time: 12pm–3pm

Make your own monogram...modularly!

This beginner-friendly workshop will introduce you to basic letterform construction using LetterMaker Stencil! Hear the story behind how LetterMaker was made, learn about modular typography, and explore the finer points of crafting your own monogram.

Designed by Kelcey Gray, LetterMaker offers stationery lovers both the familiarity of a stencil and the convenience of modular construction (think: Legos but letters!) Participants will delight in piecing together shapes to make letters over snacks, conversation and pen appreciation.

Join Kelcey and build the creative confidence you need to start creating modular letters...and your very own monogram!

We love talking about pens, markers and everything in between. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own collection of pens, markers and pencils!

Each workshop ticket includes:

  • 3 hours of hands on instruction from a talented designer, author and professor

  • Clear LetterMaker Stencil

  • Packet of custom-designed worksheets and memo sheets

  • Papermate Sharpwriter pencil and pentel sign pen

  • Snack bento box + treats

  • Beverages (sparkling water and sparkling wine)

  • 10% off retail purchase the day of the workshop

                          MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: KELCEY GRAY

Kelcey is an Austin, Texas–based graphic designer who spends her time working with words and exploring the possibilities of typography and lettering. She is the author of Let’s Make Letters! and currently teaches design and typography classes full-time in the Department of Design at the University of Texas at Austin.

Kelcey received her MFA in Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Throughout her career, she has won several industry awards and been featured in publications like Fast Co., Communication Arts, Under Consideration, Gestalten Books, and "Type on Screen" edited by Ellen Lupton. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally, notably at Type Hike, the Society of Typographic Arts 100, and London Design Festival.

She was once told she was "energetic, but not in that annoying way" by someone who clearly meant well but was not very good at giving compliments.
